I am trying to locate the stones marked on the os map at SS830441 just west of Black Barrow. I have visited the site twice but cannot find any trace of them. Can anyone tell me if they still are still visible.

Hallo,

Since the stone alignments of Exmoor are notoriously hard to find, on account of the small size of the stones often leading to them being obscured by undergrowth, it must be a right old job tracking them down.

According to Hinglish Eritage, the south westerly stone is 25cm high, and the north easterly stone is only 10cm high
(see http://www.magic.gov.uk/rsm/25228.pdf )
They also give the eastings and northings, so if you have a gps the 10digit ref would be SS 83010 44116. On the MAgiC map, the spot marked as being scheduled does seem to be 20-30m away from the spot marked on the OS map.

Hope that helps, happy hunting.
