Anyone recommend free picture compression software

Just got a new laptop from work and it uses Microsoft Photo Editor. Does anyone have any free software I can download to compress the size of my pics?
I have software at home just wont be there till the weekend.

my version (3.0.2.3) allows you to "resize..." in the "image" menu.

I use the % boxes on the right.

http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm allows compression level to be adjusted (under settings) and much else besides.
