Frustrating! That's why I wanted to be up front and say I wasn't sure, I'm not experienced enough to tell genuine antiquary fromplain 'old'. Thanks for the input, much appreciated - I'll wait to hear from you.

At last.....its stopped raining!

Took myself up on the moor today and one place I visited was Carbilly Tor. I am afraid Jack that these two stones are gateposts. One stone has drill holes in it making it less that 200 years old..
