The Trow rocks mound Akas speaks of was at NZ384667, but I think the sword came from the river If it's the one mentioned in the 1891 volume of the PSAN. Trow rocks also seems to be a good spot to play Find The Flint, there are a few bits that have turned up there over the years. The Ox remains were apparently found during the construction of Tyne Dock, dunno if the're the same ones, I've a vague memory of seeing something about Cleadon, but can't find the reference.
There's supposedly a cropmark of a 'Rectlinear enclosure' at Laverick Hall Farm, NZ313605.
Reagrds Boldon, I meant the north suide of the the hill, when you're heading up from the multiplex to the top of the hill.
The stuff in Jarrow was a couple of flint axes found in the Slake in the 19thC, any remains of actual sites are pure conjecture on my behalf. I'd not hold out much hope to be honest. I reckon when an area has been inhabited for as long as Jarrow, any prehistoric stuff will be long overlaid by more recent structures.

I've got most of my info from a book by Roger Miket, but all his entries can be found online at Sitelines*. For example, a trashed barrow at West Boldon has an entry here. There's actually a canny bit of info on there, if you do a search and limit it to prehistoric, it comes up with over 300 entries for the whole of Tyne and Wear. Mind you, most of them are findspots or trashed mounds, but there are a few cists in there, and you never know, some of them might still be there.

btw, Akas, I knwo you were half joking, but if there's RA anwhere, I reckon Boldon Hill would be the place to look. If there was stuff at Ryton, there ay well have been stuff at Boldon, it's got burials, sea views and a view of Simonside. It would be soooo nice if there was some :)

*Cheers to Rhiannon for that link.

If anyone is interested I have taken some pictures today regarding trow rocks. there are mounds and maybe even a hillfort.
they are a little hard to make out but i am confident that there is something there. these maybe to do with the burial that was found there before the quarry was opened.
whether they are from the quarry, any other local industrial work or are actually prehistoric i do not know.
but i would like a few opinions
