Even easier.. Having drawn out your design, construct a huge pantograph (see link below if not sure what this is) to the desired scale. Place a very large paint brush dipped in white wash on one end and proceed to copy your design on hillside. "Sit back, light yer pipe and admire yer handiwork".
Peg out your land into squares and using sand, transfer the drawing on paper to sand sprinkled on the ground. Get digging, pack with chalk, sit back, light yer pipe and admire yer handiwork.
