Thanks a lot. A bit of praise goes down well when you are reviled by thousands.. ;) One detecting forum, the European Federation of Independent Detectorists, has a permanent notice up, referring to me by name as a small minded pillock.

The "Independent" bit probably comes from the fact it also says "if you are an archaeologist, to be honest, you're not welcome" and it has a Finds gallery which warns users "please be aware this is a public showcase" - so you can imagine how dedicated that place is to reporting finds for the benefit of the rest of us and just what goes through their hands in a year.

But I lied, I don't feel hard done by - being hated by droves of Britain's Least Talented is a sort of pat on the back!

Now I really must shut up about it as I'm liable to go on and on...
