That 'presence' is in my experience, present throughout much of Wales, more notably the Hafod area. The Hafod and the Rheidol/Mynach areas around Devil's Bridge literally 'buzz' with something, both unnerving and awe-inspiring. Strata Florida has seen me right off, couldn't camp there just on account of the semi-veiled malignancy the place emitted. Funny you mention Blodwedd, Wales is most definately a female energy, like no other I've felt. If the Morrigan lives anywhere, you'll find her there, for sure. Whispers in the trees, eyes in the rocks, and the truth of life in running rivers.

Ah- Morfe- I lived and worked in that part of Wales for 6 months back in '91 (v small place called Abermagwr). Apart from occassional visits from friends/family I had most of the time to myself and spent many evenings by the Ystwyth river, in Black Covert woods etc, just thinking and watching nature. I know what you mean about the presence. I was always aware of a deeply (female) spiritual nature to that land, but not really in a threatening sense. The local folks I stayed with and spoke to about the supernatural all talked about it in a very matter-of-fact way. Sure they'd seen the faerie folk, seen the Holy Grail at Strata Florida, seen spirits walk the old railway line, showed me the small demon statues hidden in the woods- but was it such a big deal?? !!!
How I long to visit again- I remember that summer with great affection and have only managed one visit since moving back to Edinburgh. Thanks for reminding me Morfe!
