YES! I get the feeling, but also don't share it with many folk outwith the likes of us on here.

That whole area down the side of the Pentlands and across to the Moorfoots is a bit, em , a bit, dunno, barren in places. There are some real nice parts, but some real desolate places. I remember hillwalking in the Moorfoots a few years back- climbed Blackhope Scar, just me n me missus. A heavy sky hung over us all day, the hills were grey, saw only one person (who made me feel creepy for some reason- I normally chat to folks when in the hills, but something wasn't quite right) and was glad to get the hell out of there. brrr.
