Yes, the correct map reference is NY 7283 4910. I've corrected the listing. The map does say mines and quarries but they are mines and spoil heaps. Coal for the lead mines. An excellent place for lost small barrows to lurk unseen is among a collection of little spoil heaps. A little way further up the valley is the anthracite mine that is still producing small quantities of coal. Blackened young men push the trolleys of raw coal out from the mineshaft (and I still owe them £10 from way back). I'll photograph the Whitehouse Four-poster properly this year (or try to).
