Coast

We love a bit of Coast in out house. Although it was touched upon i wondered if the Islands were less 'islandy' back then, what with the lower sea levels and all. How many were connected and at what point did they become disconnected from the mainland.
On a tangent, am I wrong, or did that Alice Roberts start out her career as a person in the hole who sometimes found a pot on Time Team?

I'd be surprised if they were joined to the mainland during the Neolithic. It's not shallow between Cornwall and the Scillies. As I understand it that sort of land bridging occurred a lot earlier.

Absolutely. Also to be seen repeated constantly on Discovery ;P

she was described as an osteoarcheologist in a prog I saw the other day...

The islands were more connected about 10,000 years ago I think. I don't know if they were ever connected to the mainland.

As an aside - there are three undifferentiated passage tombs in Waterford that are related to those on Scilly. Not only are the designs simillar, but the grave goods were the same too.

Yeah she did... she popped up on a few digs. And does anyone remember another series she was in, "Extreme Archaeology" from a couple of years ago? That was bizarre... abseiling down cliffs to obscure prehistoric sites and canoeing thru dangerous waters to get to sunken trackways and bridges etc. They were trying to make archaeology look all hip and yoof, but it didn't quite work, innit.
