Hi C Mc,
I wonder if the chintzy stones (about an inch or more in length) - the green, or white, etc., that are often used (or used to be used) to fill in the space between the marble, or stone, borders of some graves are of a similar origin.

Or was that what you were referring to? Sorry if it was, I assumed it was larger rocks, which I have also seen, standing proud of the ground, piled up into the shape of soil on a new burial. But that's a bit more obvious.
