Can anyone point me to a detailed reliable account of a scheduled site that has been badly damaged by nighthawk artefact hunters/looters (not just metal detecting, people after flint and pottery etc) in the past say five years?

Also, does anyone have any pictures of holes dug by looters (that are obviously that, not badgers)?

I know you've specifically said you're not after 'metaldetectorists', but wasn't there a case a couple of years back where a hillfort was gone over by them under cover of darkness? I seem to recall that a lot of damage was done.

Someone help me out here.

There was an interesting case at Mildenhall in 2004,someone apprehended by a policeman as he left the Cunetio roman town site there with coins, etc, but the case never went through.... its a site that has never been excavated..
