Do they string up moles still, in Wiltshire ? What's that all about ?
There's a mole catcher who drinks in a pub in Pewsey - I'll ask him next time I'm down. My brother, who also lives in Pewsey, said if he ever caught the mole that keeps ploughing up his lawn he was going to bury the little bugger alive :-)

You'dknow sharp enough if they did. They're hung by the tail from barbed wire fence on the lefthandside of a gateway. About forty is the most I've seen at one place - I thought about putting a postcard on the village noticeboard "Badly Behaved Mole Competition - The Results" and award a prize to the farmer with the fewest (4). At Bolton there's a farmer who's collected about twenty Right Of Way markers and arranged them down the side of a field - same kind of principle maybe.

The moles go higher up the fell every year, it seems. And ants !
