Hello Pete, a recent tv prog showed the Prescelly outcrop. Several large pieces of blue stone were separated/split and wedged apart with smaller stones. It was implied that this was the work of the Stonehenge builders or at least, the quarrymen employed for the project. I was hoping for similar evidence to support the Marlbrough Downs theory. So, there is no evideence of a quarry in the area?

Dan :-{)

there is lots of evidence and records of quarrying sarsens around Marlborough.
West woods had a quarry until the 1940s.
A walk around Fyfield gives you an idea of what the area used to be like with the sarsen stone drifts and is well worth spending a day wandering around.
