Did the cyclists show up?
I love their presence at Castlerigg, they provide a nice counter-balance to the new age circus. They usually show up in good numbers, sober, jolly, bandy-legged and bedecked in a riot of colourful lycra.
Their presence at Castlerigg reminds me of the early workers cycling clubs such as The Clarion spreading Socialism through cycling, which for me somehow re-enforces the 'northernness' of the Castlerigg solstice
