the seller tells me he bought it from some house clearance crew in Bath.
He says they threw out the papers and photos that once belonged to a Mr Lawrence

Ouch, rotter - Brockham End/Littledown Fort, excavated by Faulkner 1911, could be him, he was a barrow excavator, I think he found the Lansdown gold "sun disc"....., lots of roman stuff up there as well under the golf course..

Did the seller consider offering the finds to a museum for a similar amount of dosh? Or are museums reluctant to pay cash for finds? I'm sure you don't know the answer, but it begs the question when only £281 is involved with the nations prehistory. Sickening.
