Despite what it says in the literature Brocken spectres can be experienced at quite low altitudes . A bit like a rainbow it's a combination of mist ,sunlight and an observer in the right position. Could well explain many a sighting of angels ,giants etc. And then here is always the story of the Big Grey Man of Ben Macdhui who has caused people to flee from the hill . One high ranking buddhist chappie actually thought it was a Bodhisattva .
