Thanks LS! It's part of a series of paintings I've been commissioned to do for the cardiac wing of a hospital. The brief is 'magic, comfort, hope, spirit, journeys, life, joy.' There's more to come, but probably the others won't have anything prehistoric in them :-( Though I'm thinking of slipping in a random standing stone to one of a meadow.

The colours are lovely and fresh for June, with hidden things in the landscape, exuberant nature at its best.
Years ago someone made a book called Masquerade and your picture suddenly reminded me of it. It was a treasure hunt for a silver hare, and I never knew who found it, but just looked it up on the net, apparently the finder did a bit of lateral thinking, worked out where the painter had lived and then used a metal detector - wretched cheat....

Jane,
Thanks for another lovely watercolour.
Check out the link below for my favourite professional watercolour artist, William Heaton Cooper in Grasmere. He died a few years a go, but his son is continuing the business, but in a different style of painting. I hope you enjoy the website.
