Old postcards

Too right..what a great site! I take it it is recent as it has not come to my attention before. Great photos of Duloe and the drawing of an ern from lanlawren is realy interesting as Lanlawren is 5 mins walk down the road...and I never knew about anything being found there!

Many of the postcards belong to David Thomas, he is based at the Cornwall Records Office and although I knew he collected old postcards (great collection on Methodism in Cornwall) I did not realise he had stuff on antiquities as well..wait till I see him next.

Mr H

Hi! Glad you liked the site. It's a bit large at over 6mb but I think it was worth it. The lantern slides belong to David Thomas, as do the photos of Carwynnen, Merry Maidens (Frith) and a couple of the postcards. The rest of the postcards are mine, mostly from local fairs and eBay. Have about 40 or 50 Cornish, 250 Stonehenge, 250 other UK and about 300 French, and a few Belgian, Dutch, German etc. All of the French ones will eventually be added to the album (link at bottom of page), and I will probably do the same for the rest at some point. I find quite a lot of archaeological info at the CRO, where I also work, and there are a few nuggets and newly discovered details on the rest of the site, especially in the parish bounds and place names pages, though it would need trawling through. Have recently photographed the whole of Nordens 'Speculi Britanniae Pars' so will hopefully be allowed to use some of the illustrations from that, which are I believe late 16th century, Hurlers, Nine Maidens Stone Row & Trethevy. I'll be adding the full text at some point over the next few months, though OCR won't work on this so it'll take a while. So much to do, so little time. Take care and thanks for the comments. Much appreciated.

PS - Ain't got no anorak, just a hide full o' tatts and a love of the stones.
