"indication of when the equinoctal spring and neap tides could be expected"

What is an equinoctal spring tide? How does it differ from any other spring tide that occurs twice every month?

Gravity.
K.

I'm not sure that is the correct name - I've done a year of meteorology classes but I must clearly have dozed off a few times ('cause I can't even spell it correctly). Those tides in spring and autumn are the two highest and lowest tides of the year. The autumn one is often the most dangerous because of the possibility of storms then. (Here's a tide report - http://www.pol.ac.uk/ntslf/tides/?port=0932 ). For the sound of one of those gales download ( http://www.davidaspinall.co.uk/media/line!!cast.mp3 ) - it's just 1.8Mb as it is in mono - it's supposed to be 'shock comedy'.
