No, I don't think we should. However, we shouldn't think of them as the end of the journey, but should use them as starting points.

Yes.. Names and words are often the only link we have. They need to be examined, analysed, tested and traced. Archaeology should never be regarded as our only window on the past. (That statement is of course the ultimate heresy)
