all rather jolly, the bits I got glassy eyed over were the descriptions of changing climate and the people leaving the city during disaster then coming back to repair, but each time taking longer to return and then finaly giving up.
the human sacrifice reminded me of the thread on here about rational/irrational in attempting to understand the why of it all.
pots found depicted human sacrifice, but no proof, so was it a myth? they found the proof and it appeared to co-incide with rainfall (in an arid region). Ritualised combat with the loser having their throat cut and then their limbs defleshed at the joints so it would wobble about a for a bit until they got thrown (or asked politely to lie down) in the mud which then received and buried them.
