>'and on the portal all you get is a crappy, unuseable list of names of sites'

Hmmm, it wasn't meant to be a 'dig', PeterH, merely an observation. Surely you have to admit, if you were plotting a trip to another country, a list of names of sites with virtually no useable information (notes, comments, directions, photos) next to each name is a little frustrating!

This was the case with the Dutch sites on the portal until last year. Hopefully I can rectify the situation on the portal (or better still on here) with the Danish sites shortly :-)

you are right Jane. We on the portal are pretty crap at Denmark so far. What we need is somebody to get some good info together and sort it out for us. Strangely, when I did a search for "Denmark" all I got was half a dozen sites with no extra detail. However, we do have many sites identified with latitude and longitude data (but nothing else) which strangely dont turn up in the search.

If you look at our map and zoom in to Dnmark, many sites are plotted try this http://www.megalithic.co.uk/mapserv/frames.html?layer=village&layer=longbarrow&layer=barrow&layer=tomb&layer=ss&layer=scr&layer=cave&zoomsize=2&map=%2Fsrv%2Fwww%2Fhtdocs%2Fmapserv%2Fmegp.map&program=%2Fcgi-bin%2Fmapserv40&root=%2Fmapserv&map_web_imagepath=%2Fsrv%2Fwww%2Fhtdocs%2Fmapserv%2Ftmp%2F&map_web_imageurl=%2Fmapserv%2Ftmp%2F&map_web_template=itasca_adds_frames.html dont know whether it'll work. Else search for Sorring and work your way from there with the pop up maps. Dont know whether it'll help you much at all.

And yes, we were crap at Holland to, until you spurred us into action to sort things out. What we really need is more help, from people like yourself.

Yes, but you know that we are entirely dependennt on information sent to us. We are not going to turn away interesting Danish pix just because the contributor hasn't provided sufficient guidance. We plot what we can where we can. Hopefully, when you return, you may be able to give us useful information.

The sites on the Portal other than the main one I posted are just South of Aarhus at and around Rude. I haven't as yet had a chance to check these out. There are loads of them, but when I have been there they are under deep snow. I'll get over there in the summer sometime. If you can get to Poeskaer
