Sadly Darwin's theory can not explain the evolution of everything. One day someone will complete his work and fill in the gaps. Until then people will question it.

Questioning is fine and not the problem. We are talking about fundamentalism that takes the six day creationism of the Bible and the Koran as the absolute and undeniable truth. The world is six thousand years old so where does that leave our Palaeolithic forebears? Read the article and shudder.

I think they are filling in some of the gaps. there's some interesting stuff being done about the relationship between geography, population bottlenecks and climate change. It's maybe explaining some of the changes in gear (so to speak) that Darwin's gradual process fails to take into account.
