There are two Blagdon's - one here, a mile north of the city limit, and one near Bristol. Private Eye, many years ago, had a coloumn named 'The Blagdon Amateur Rapist' (or v similar). The estate has certainly one, possibly more, varieties of cheese, as local products. Newcastle's built on coal deposits and it is still being strip-mined from hereabouts. There is a local hill, named Cow Hill, that was made on the Town Moor, excavated from the motorway underpass, when it was built. It's a crap hill, daft shape, doesn't fit the sky, and is best used by model aeroplaners and, occasionally, kite flyers.

Cow Hill is the best sledgeing hill in the whole of tyne n wear. Used to live in spital tongues and go over there in the middle of the night to enjoy the hard packed ice after all the kids had gone home. fond memories of deluxe luxury toboggan - mattress still in its polythene bag... fantastic...

...getting back to Jencks...
keep meaning to get up to his Garden of Cosmic Speculation (near Dumfries) on the annual open day - anyone been? It would be good to know if it lives up to its name.
