In defence, it was meant to be a new and lighthearted thread about inventing words. The Swallowhead stuff was mentioned for illustrative purposes, not to get into the old argument about that stuff.

Associated defence - I had a similar motivation in the rock art thing. I had no idea there was potential for trouble in it. I presume whatever problems there were relating to that stuff pre-dated my coming here. So from that position I thought a "what is it" type thread was a relatively fresh topic for most people. When you say you don't want the same old same old I suppose you're doomed to be frustrated to an extent as this place is one big continuous machine for turning innocent virgins into old pros. ;)

Third point - I SO empathase with you about the bickering. I think I've actually developed an allergy to it due to recent stuff.
