I've just come across this good looking website: http://www.traditionsofthesun.org/

Loads of pictures of 'ancient observatories'. There are some podcast vids too. I've not looked at the site properly yet, but it looks as though there's loads on it.

Its a beautiful site, once you have installed quicktime, and mastered the moving finger. Solar alignment at Oxkentok is especially interesting - makes me believe in the obelisk theory at Avebury....
