Torbhlaren eh? Eh, theres a good reason for me to go back to Kilamrtin, I was keen to get there this summer, but got distracted by all the stuff further down. It has the look of an ideal mesolithic site. I wonder if Dunaad has similar, it's got the same kind of feel, i.e. big gnarly lump sticking up out of the surrounding flatness. I can easily imagine herds streaming down the terraces, with folk sitting watching, with a good 360 view of the surrounding area, able to see which particular bottleneck the animals were heading for, possibly signalling to other hunters further down the valley. They'd be bound to leave traces, but would they have made cups? Difficult to say.
Kilmartin makes me happy just to remember that it exists, ta for reminding of it me G :)
Ahem, anyway, I was going to say, for the Northumberland sites, there's all the stuff that Fritz Berthele collected, the ones Beckensall mentions. I was wondering if it would be useful to compare his findspots with the location of cupmarks. But I seem to recall he found them whilst doing preparatory ploughing for forest clearance, and as there aren't all that many Nbland RA sites in plantations, it might skew any attempt at corealations.
