both my husband and i recently retired and we took a course in archaeology at the local college, our instructor was quite keen on stone circles and recommended swinside which is within a reasonable car journey from our home in lancashire. i was just overwhelmed by the circle and since then hubby and me have yomped all over the place visiting as many of them as we can,this year we off to ireland and the orkneys.... certainly beats d.i.y. knitting
