TMA was devised as an extension to the book. Julian knows the book only touched on the surface of a massive subject site-wise and wanted to allow it to grow. From the beginning the site has been open and it has been left to go where people want it to go within reason. The lack of an editorial team was a problem early on (it's still not perfect) but the main thing is that TMA remains true to it's original purpose. Why should it change?

There are other sites out there that deal with other areas/eras quite well and there isn't any reason why TMA should dilute itself with other stuff that bears no relation to the original theme just to be popularist, apart from just to be popularist ... and that ain't a very Cope thing to do :-)

With their current content both megalithomania and the Megalithic Portal should probably be renamed to something more generic. It's fun that the Modern Antiquarian has the most generic 'cover all' name and yet is the most tight on it's content era-wise ;-)

Well said 4W. (Even tho y're not here.)

Yes - that occurred to me also. You are perfectly correct in saying that there are other sites covering other periods and that is why I use them.
