I got a Magellan Explorist 300 for xmas, it was bought in england so only seems to have english maps. Does anyone have one? Does anyone know how to update the maps?
It seems to be fine for what I want to use if for, finding that stone in the middle of hilly areas far from roads but it would be nice if you could change the maps and use it as a route-planner as well.

I have the 210 explorist, the maps that come with it are the european maps, Ireland is just a complete blank apart from Dublin, Belfast the M1 and the N11. Thats all there is available so whatever you do dont buy the european map, its nearly 200 euro and has no other detail for Ireland.

I'm getting Microsoft Autoroute for the PC because it takes OS co-ords and hopefully will be able to plan routes with that and transfer to the Magellan. If you have a laptop then the GPS will link to AutoRoute (I think) and you can use the laptop for mapping your location/route. I'll let you know how I get on with Autoroute, but if I had known how little mapping there is for Ireland I probably would have just gone for the bare bones type gps with no mapping.
