Whats the D70 like for night photography Jane? Does it have a D setting?
The thing I miss with digital is being able to do really long exposures and getting star trails.
I know what you mean about not being able to throw a camera away.
I have a few in the attic that I cut my teeth on, Olympus OM10 and a Nikor.

never tried it for night work, Pete. <Thicko moment> What's a D setting?! Do you mean when you just leave the shutter open?

I still have an OM2 that I can't bear to throw away either. Haven't used it for ages, but it takes cracking pictures. Now using a Kodak DX6490 digital that I've had for a couple of years. Despite being a Kodak, it has a 38-300mm (10x) optical zoom and through-the-lens (electronic) viewfinder and got very strong reviews at the time I bought it, especially for its optics.

I'm considering an upgrade to a DSLR, but can't decide which one. Prices seem to be falling fast, so I might hang on a bit longer.
