Yes and the connection with the dawn and rising sun seems significant. This is the classical Greek myth though. What we really need to know is the ancient British, Irish or Germanic name for Orion and then look at those myths. Possibly, one of the Irish giant stories could be linked to Orion as he is so obvious in the night sky, but I have no knowledge.
