Totally agree and it can be done effectively without always plonking an unwilling partner or child in front. One pic with something like a rucksac, trekking pole or metre rule if you are a poseur - then another pic without.

Yeah, I agree too. When I remember, or a 'lack of scale' really strikes me when I'm looking thru the viewfinder I have been known to stick a rucksack or whatever in.

On Coldrum, I think a pic in the big papery TMA has Dorian in it. Must admit, I've never been over the fence on my cuppla visits. And yes, I'd describe the stones as 'quite big' - somewhere around 5-6 ft tall, I guess, in the case of the bigger standing ones?

A rucksack? How big's your rucksack? You could place an Action Man rucksack by a small stone and get really distorted pictures! A better option would be to place somebody else's Action Man by the stones.

A kid or love one in an occasional shot is fine by me. Scale is massively important and anything that portrays that is great. The problem comes when the photo is more person than site.
