It's impossible to tell boat construction from rock art - but - the carvings look ok filled in with ochre paint - and - both northern and southern boats were clearly depicted with a steering oar, always starboard rear. 'That must say something'. EbaY's good for boats. When they say 'the East Coast fishing fleet's up for sale', it's true and they often drift through the online auction house. ost are synthetic hulled but some are clinker built !

I'm currently sitting on a twenty eight thousand tonne vessel rolling around within sight of the Norwegian coast.
We had a big storm blow through last night and although the storm has blown over, it's bloody freezing and there's a two to three meter swell running.
I was stood today looking at the sea thinking that them fellas must've had some bottle to sail these seas.
Maybe it was on a day like this that one of them thought , bugger this skin & sapling malarky, I'm gonna get me some wood and build a proper boat.
