It's interesting that a fella who is so at ease with the visual medium should place such value on tactility. Thinking of some of the 'pica' theories of cupmarks, perhaps people who are into stones express/experience their afinity via different senses.

Makes me think of Olaf Stapleton's uberdog Sirius, when he describes "The brave smell of a stone".
