Yes there are these supposed linguistic links, but they never seem to be proven. The other yarn is the one about the Mandan Indians being comparitively light skinned and their language being similar to Welsh. They are said to be descended from the followers of Prince Madoc of North Wales who voyaged to America in ( I think) the 12th century.
