Tombo should have his work published it is always so beautiful and detailed. I remember when I first found this site and he mentioned the Lansdown sun disc that was found in one of the barrows up on the downs. I did not want to say anything about it for fear of people trogging around trying to find other "gold" stuff. The sun disc always appears in inverted commas in archaeological books, as if it is'nt quite true. But thats rubbish, many a morning I have gone up to the downs to watch the sun come up over the horizon, and the sun disc was clearly used as part of a ceremony to greet its dawning. Still feel guilty that I never told him more about it, especially as he disappeared, but Sulis was definitely a sun goddess, and Bath's healing spring is just part of the wider pattern of sun, moon, water that winds in and out of prehistoric, not necessarily religious, but that wider spiritual perception of nature....

Spot on,not religious, became yes, pratical, life and death, work out why so important to watch sun, moon etc if not religious, practical, had to know, the one that knew when all events would happen(call him merlin, shaman, witch docter etc)very top dog ,all life that they percieved came from earth, therefore so did they, all life died and went back to earth so did they, what is life they pondered, what they knew so well,so,so well was earth and all to do with it,that sun rose and gave life ,that moon rose and did something,it switched the point were life, went into ground and life came back out(that previous bit is how I consider they percieved an odd event) so build long barrow were life goes back to earth keep relics of dead until it comes back out, bring out relics and let relitives bury, bring out goods of dead and give to grandson(reincarnated,in there eyes)
