Well we could go on and on with silly jokes and just leave it to the sports obsessed Minister for Culture to adopt the FA Cup as the Icon for England. Or we could come up with some serious megalithic suggestions, preferrably avoiding Stonehenge. How about Silbury before it collapses?

Why oh why are the English so embarrassed at owning up to a love of their country? I have no time for war-mongering jingoism, racism, private land ownership, political cant, nationalism, soccer tribal warfare and I certainly don't give a damn as to who wins the Ashes! But I love this land. I've travelled the world and seen much that is more dramatic and spectacular, but this is home. You can jeer and snigger and tell me that I'm not "cool" - but I know that anyway ;o)
