Hi, andy
>Did the A C copy have the map section or was it missing pages or was it very tatty? Ho Hum ... you get what you pay for!<
Reading the catalogue entry, it doesn't look like it: I know DW sales from when I was had my SHB, and they are always very fastidious in their descriptions, and a well-knowledgeable bunch (or they were 6-7 years ago, anyway).
The best way to find a copy if this book is probably to get in tight with a topography specialist, and let them know what you're looking for - then they have something to keep an eye out for, and incentive to do a bit of dealing. Give them a ballpark figure - they'll always try to push it a bit, but make allowances in your target price to cover for this.
>PSSSST ...... anyone got a Borlase for a fiver ?????<
LOL!
These antiquarian books are a better hit than getting wasted! It begs credulity that people so belittle these splendid volumes ...
Yeah; agreed. But most people are after as much information as possible, and anything over £25.00 for a book that is - to be sure - seminal and potent - is probably seen as a bit of a luxury; after all, AFAIA only M'lud Yatesbury had them boxed for porterage, presumably because he wanted to immerse himself in the whole timestream of knowledge as he planned his very own Book of Genesis..... Most of us would settle for a Burl, a Pitts or a Pryor, and get the full(er) picture for a staggeringly cheap outlay......
Peace
