archaeology magazine ever published" would be John Britton's Architectural Antiquities.
It sold more than the circulation figures for BA which I state without knowwhat that is because it has never been outsold by another magazine.
Its size and lurid cover the like of which had never before been seen was radically futuristic, and was the most talked about ever as it caused a scandal in society by discussing the origins of the Gothic arch in terms of a modern news of the screws sex scandal.
