get yourself a copy of A Guide to the Stone Circles of Britain Ireland and Brittany.
ISBN 0-300-06331-8
It'll cost you about ten British Pounds, is readily available and is slightly bigger than your arse pocket so fits snugly into your bag, glove box or where ever. As a field guide to Stone Circles it just can't be beaten and is probably used by most of the regular contributors here.

Beat me to it Fitz!!! Fantastically useful book, tho worth mentioning that you need OS maps with it at least as much as with Julian's book.

Let's just say like Julian's book, some of Burl's descriptions of how to find the sites are better than others.... (Mind you some ARE just more difficult to find, and at least he never cops out by saying 'needs an OS map'!

This place is by far the best for directions!
