This second one is provisional, so far, but might be a good one. The moon is just past full so will rise not long after sunset, while there's still a bit of natural light in the sky. My calculations suggest the evening of the 18th will be the one to go for, but the next night will also be close. And everything depends on the weather.
If you were really into the spirit of investigation you could try Bull Hill, in Darwen, for these (or this) event. This is where the moon should appear, from Thurstones, so perhaps something is also happening in front of it ? Looking 'backwards' from Bull Hill would give you the southernmost moonset - behind Hole Hill, Smithills. Half the assumptions turn out t be false !
