Re you last paragraph;
I still shoot on film, therefore keeping the original transparancy as proof of ownership on file.

I often send out dupes and use a slide copier. (I still use 35mm when on commission or shooting stock)
I've lost too many originals in the past to let them out of my sight now.
The dupes always come back with fingerprints sratches or dirt on them.
