Thanks loads gw!!! Considering the length of my last post, I wouldn'ta bin surprised if nobody bothered reading it - LOL!!!!!
Lotsa really good stuff in your post that deffo goes a long way towards answering my main question on how come the necklace (& breast) idea is so well accepted. Really grateful for that. I wasn't aware of the 'dotted' versions. Hasta be said that another big difficulty is that a lotta the engravings're difficult to spot & if you do spot em, they're still difficult to make out at all clearly!!!
For example, most of the Prajou Menhir engravings were difficult to see coz the end chamber they're in has a capstone. (Plus the weather was horrid, so no sun!) Not doubting that there are 2 - I'm sure I could only see one 'set' - certainly only got a photo of one set, the one with the 'solid' necklace.
The stone at Kerguntuil with the 'multiple' sets was the only engraving there that I could see clearly enough to interpret at all, & I'm buggered if I could see any 'necklaces' on the Tresse ones! (Even tho they're in the open & the light was good!)
One lot there are also badly damaged & of course being in the open, they'll be eroded quite badly. Looking at our photos of em (which are pretty clear), I can make out only one really faint trace, which admittedly looks nowt like a pregnant belly...!
Certainly is fascinating!!!
