the weather is still very changeable, cold wet and windy on the west ..... not my idea of good camping weather .... if you are anywhere near North Glasgow/ Loch Lomond let me know and I'll point you to some must sees.

My week on Scottish soil last year.
It's a practical guide, (I didn't gush too much about the stones, because it's been done, better than I could).

I second the weather warning of the Bovine Pursuant. I'm reliably told that Saturday was a nice day, but it's been freezing and all hailstones and sleet everytime I've been out and about.

I'd suspect that staying on the mainland would be the cheapest way, still plenty to see.
