S'okay "betty",

I shouldn't have even got involved in this silly debate! I regretted it as soon as I posted it.

We've just had such a good week on this forum that its terrible to see this sort of bad feeling flying around. I don't want to be a part of it, however protective I feel towards Paulus (who I'm sure is big and ugly enough to look after himself, really!).

So please accept my apologies, in the spirit of unity and peace!

Tom

TomBo says: 'I shouldn't have even got involved in this silly debate!' and I probly shouldn't either, but I can't not cos I is a gobby cow.

The remit of TMA is known to all. The blurry bits a the edges (crosses and such) cause a bit of aggro, but basically it's fixed, which I find quite helpful. It's always worth challenging the blurry bits to more clearly define what the edges are. That's the only way we can do it. Its not about 'getting at' anyone who posts a site that appears to be out of the remit, you just gotta come out and say it: "umm, is this really TMA material? i think not cos of x, y and z.' And you talk about it. I learn tons this way. Not only about the sites, but also about diplomacy and flexible-mindedness. And for that I thank everyone.

But before this begins to sound like some kinda Oscars verbage, I should say there have been times when i've shouted 'screw you!' at the 'pooter to various people in response to activity on this website but I find it much more constructive to discuss and listen and debate.

So if you want a site about Normans or Saxons, or something else, go and find it or go and create it. That's not a 'away and never darken my doors' again statement, it's a statement of encouragement and positivity to post lots of deliciously relevant things here and equally luscious things relevant to other sites on other sites.

Yeah?

Now, mine's a pint and tell me what neolithic and bronze age goodies you have seen today...

I agree, Tom. My passion is directed at prehistoric sites....out in the field and on the web....and I logged in as "betty" to make a point to Littlestone and Earthstepper (with a little dig at the Eds, who must know who I am). I'm on the Portal and the Stones list and would prefer my true identity not to be revealed, for that reason.

No need to apologise, Tom. :-)

I apologise for being incognito.
