Stone Needed

close

As reported in yesterdays Cornish "Sunday Independant" newspaper, the good people at the Eden Project are looking for a lump of granite to be the centrepiece in the new education building they are planning to build.

The paper said they want a stone "about 200 tons in weight, 4 times the size of the Stonehenge ones".

Should be an interesting site getting that into place.

Wouldn't mind delivering that. Neolithic style... :-)

Is a glaciation planned in Cornwall?

Apart from the possibility of Gordon delivering it, does anyone know how they plan to do it, and where they're getting it from, and why, and what it will cost?
Isn't there quite a bit of granite for people to look at in Cornwall already?

I saw a program once where they squashed potatoes in the path of an enormous stone to aid the movement. How surprised I was to see how impractical that method would have been all the way from Wales to Stonehenge!

My advice is many, many banana skins. Worked for the Keystone Cops...

I have not been able to confirm it yet, but....
Looks like the report should have read 20 tons!
That will save a few spuds then.

Mr H

Disregard my message on Wednesday, It does look as if this stone will be 200 tonnes. See

Can anybody tell me what size a 1 ton lump of granite would be?
