Whenever you are talking about mythology/gods, there is no "exactness", only the intepretation by modern scholars of old texts, which in turn were written down at a much later date.
The framework of Neolithic/bronze/iron age people must have been the natural world around them. Their religions would have reflected their own small world , whether it be mountain, water or the heavens above, or.. ancestor worship, fertility whatever. Outside influences only coming in gradually and being interpreted on a local level .
