Spirit of Place

"Curiosity, scholarly, spiritual, fun or a deep sense of yearning to connect with the spirit of an ancient place?"

Boringly, I've got to say All of the Above.
Plus Nature plus Landscape plus Aesthetics.
(Since taking up amateur painting I feel like I've grown extra eyes and aesthetics has become a dominating delight. It's everywhere at ancient sites and I missed it all before. Everyone should do it, for that reason alone).

Nice one nigel - in complete agreement with all of that.

Great additions Nigelswift!!! I would think that though coz my personal 'reasons list' would go summat like:
1. Landscape & aesthetics
2. Nature
3. Curiosity
4. Peace & solitude (on a good day)
5. Scholarly
And the spiritual stuff's a nice bonus on the (for me rare) occasions when it happens.

Fun goes without saying!
